The Chinese and Lunar New Year are significant events in New Zealand due to our diverse culture and thriving Chinese community. We anticipate thousands of visitors will join their families to celebrate this important occasion.
If you are applying for a visitor visa for a client to travel in the New Year, including the Chinese and Lunar New Year, we encourage you to submit their applications by mid-November.
Applications received after this date may not be processed in time for the Chinese and Lunar New Year period.
Please submit all the required evidence, including:
- an acceptable photo
- proof they have enough money or a sponsor to cover their costs here
- evidence that shows they have genuine reasons for visiting
- English translations of all documents not in English.
Complete applications mean we will decide their application sooner and your client will then have the confidence to book flights, accommodation, and the rest of their trip.
